A letter from our President
Lieutenant

President
Police Traffic Officers Association
of Bergen County
Palisades Interstate Parkway Police
Welcome to the Police Traffic Officers Association of Bergen County.
As President of this Association, it is my privilege to represent the dedicated traffic safety professionals from law enforcement agencies throughout Bergen County who share a common mission: making our roadways safer for everyone who travels them.
Every day, police officers encounter the consequences of unsafe driving behaviors. Speeding, distracted driving, impaired driving, and reckless operation of motor vehicles continue to be leading causes of preventable crashes, serious injuries, and fatalities. Behind every statistic is a family, a friend, a neighbor, or a member of our community whose life has been forever changed.
The Police Traffic Officers Association of Bergen County is committed to supporting initiatives that enhance roadway safety through education, enforcement, training, and interagency cooperation. Our members work collaboratively to identify traffic safety concerns, implement targeted enforcement strategies, share best practices, and remain at the forefront of advancements in traffic crash investigation and traffic safety programs.
We recognize that effective traffic enforcement is not simply about issuing summonses—it is about changing driver behavior, increasing awareness, and preventing tragedies before they occur. Through proactive enforcement efforts and public outreach, we strive to reduce dangerous driving practices and create safer roads for motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists, and all who utilize our transportation network.
Our Association also serves as a forum for professional development and collaboration among traffic safety officers throughout Bergen County. By bringing together experienced professionals with a shared commitment to excellence, we strengthen our collective ability to address emerging traffic safety challenges and improve outcomes for the communities we serve.
Ultimately, our goal is simple yet profoundly important: to prevent motor vehicle crashes, reduce injuries, and save lives. Every enforcement initiative, every educational campaign, every training program, and every partnership is driven by that purpose.
I encourage you to explore our website to learn more about our organization, our mission, and the important work being done by our members. Together, through education, enforcement, and community engagement, we can continue to make Bergen County's roadways safer for future generations.
Thank you for your support in traffic safety and the law enforcement professionals who work every day to protect our communities.
Respectfully,
Lieutenant Raymond E. Walter
